My boyfriend and I are known for taking one day trips.  It's a great way to recharge and escape the busy city noises for a little bit. We usually don't plan ahead, these road trips just happen, and that's the magic behind them. It may come as a shock to some who know me, because I am a planner type. Lately, I have let go of every rule I followed and all my anxieties. After all, we have one life to live and I am choosing to live it to the fullest and enjoying every moment of it. Best way to do it, is by exploring!

Last weekend, we knew we wanted to go somewhere. The night before we left we decided on Madison, WI. I have been there a couple of times, but only during winter season. I wanted to experience the charm of Madison in the summer. And oh boy, isn't it so darn charming.

A short 2 hour drive later from Chicago, we arrived in Madison on saturday afternoon. I packed the day of into one bag. Yes, that's a shocker too! We had no idea we would stay the night, we prepared just in case. The city of Madison is beautifully nested between many lakes. It was super windy and hot (90F), despite the conditions we enjoyed out time together to the fullest. We started at the capitol strolling down State street, which has lots of shopping and dining. We ended up on a blanket having a little picking by one of the lakes and that's when we decided to extend our stay and booked a hotel room. We had cheese curds, enjoyed a beautiful lake sunset and on day two we biked and went to Olbrich Botanical Gardens. We packed a lot into two days. It was so worth the short drive!

Now onto my outfit packing strategy. I packed one dress and shorts and a tank top, which I didn't end up wearing. I think I packed more shoes than clothes for this trip. First day, I wore my beautiful Soprano Off the Shoulder Dress with my studded sandals. The dress comes in two other colors (black and navy) and it just makes me feel very feminine and almost princess like. I am just staring to wear more dresses. I have to admit, I am now loving myself in dresses, especially when you find the one that fits you perfectly. This off the shoulder little number is more than perfect and is under $50. I wore my Sam Edelman white sneakers that are now on sale for $42 with the dress later. These sneakers have this cute espadrille detail, which transforms your every day sneaker into a chic street savvy look. They come in a fun multi-stripe color too. Get them before they are gone!

Day two look was also a dress. It is so easy and fun to just wear dresses in the summer. The green palm leaf dress is from Old Navy and I got it for under $20. Score! Best thing about it, comes in many other colors and patterns. It's so beautiful, light and has lots of movement. This palm leaf dress is also great for bike ride around town (just check my photo above). I wore my Top Shop gold slide sandals with it, they complemented the dress, and were very comfortable for a hot day of biking and strolling in the beautiful botanical gardens.

It was hard not to overpack, but with summer trips it's so much easier to just pack lots of dresses. Now, that I am loving them even more, my suitcase got a little bit lighter. Or I just made room for more shoes ;)

I am linking all my dresses for you to shop below (and few other ones I love and have in my closet). Thanks for reading and following me on my social media sites. You guys are the best!
